This is a great pair of pants for any outdoor activity. I myself have day hiked, backpacked, and climbed (indoors and outdoors) in them.
My video review of the Columbia Royce Peak Pant covers the pros and cons of the pants:
Pros
-- Durable: I have worn the pants for over 6 months and have had no durability issues with them yet. Even with all I've put them through, save for a few loose threads, they have not worn out at all
-- Versatile: I'll wear these bad boys to the climbing gym, to work, and to bars. From far away or from your peripherals you'd never know the pants were meant for outdoor use.
-- Comfortable: These pants fit true to size and aren't uncomfortably slim or overly baggy.
Cons
-- Snap button: the darn snap button will sometimes unsnap when I sit down quickly. It's a minor annoyance, and the only real con I could find
These are my favorite pants and I highly recommend them. They retail for $60 so they're not too expensive compared with other climbing pants. The Columbia Royce Peak Pant is a great choice of outdoor pants if you're looking to ditch the blue jeans and get something a little more comfortable.
