1: Retail Box
New Tom Ford sunglasses are packaged in a branded retail box. Check that the logo and font matches one used officially by Tom Ford. Older models may vary in colour and style. Be aware that genuine packaging can accompany counterfeit sunglasses.
2: Retail Box Label
The retail box label details manufacturer information and a barcode. Check, where applicable, it matches the same details on your sunglasses.
3: Info Booklet
New Tom Ford sunglasses are accompanied by an information booklet. Check the size, font, spacing, positioning and alignment of the logo and other copy.
4: Authenticity Card
New Tom Ford sunglasses are accompanied by an authenticity card and envelope. Check the letter shapes are consistent with the official Tom Ford logo, and that all copy is evenly spaced and aligned.
5: Dust Cloth
Tom Ford sunglasses are accompanied by a dust cloth featuring the Tom Ford logo. Check that the logo is consistent with the official Tom Ford logo, and that it has a high quality finish.
6: Carry Case
New Tom Ford sunglasses are accompanied by a case featuring the Tom Ford logo. Check that the logo is consistent with the official Tom Ford logo
7: Lens Logo
Most new Tom Ford sunglasses have the Tom Ford logo etched into the top left corner of the left lens. If featured, check that the etching is clean, evenly spaced.
8: Left Temple
The inside of the left arm of Tom Ford sunglasses feature the model name, model number beginning TF..., followed by colour code and lens and frame sizes. Check that these match similar numbers detail on the box label or paperwork.
9: Temple Tip Logo
Often new styles of Tom Ford sunglasses feature a metal Tom Ford logo on the right arm temple tip. The finish of the letters should be sharp, and it will be fixed to the arm cleanly with no signs of glue or gaps.
10: Serial Number
Often new styles of Tom Ford sunglasses feature a serial number on the left arm temple tip. Check that it is etched cleanly and clearly.
Embedded logos on the tips of the temple arms: These are metal tips inserted into the frame itself, with the logo Tom Ford etched into the metal. This is not a printed stamp. This is etched into the tip, if you fun your finger across it, you will feel the texture. Beware of any serial number that is a simple printed stamp with no texture.
Serial number on inner temple arm: This feature can be difficult to notice. It is located generally on the inner left temple arm (if looking through the glasses), and is etched in on the tip.
On most models, the logo 'TOM FORD' is etched on the sunglass lens in the top right-hand corner (left hand-corner whilst wearing). Fake Tom Ford glasses have only a printed logo on it.
- The inner side of the sunglass arms provide information relating the specific model. On right side arm, as previously mentioned, the 'Made in Italy' sign is shown. On the inner left arm are the details of the model, its colour and the size of the glasses. Take a look at the photograph, it shows a typical example of what should be printed on the arm:
