Many clinicians wonder why they need to clean their hands when they’re wearing gloves. The short answer is that they need to sanitize their hands before wearing gloves because the gloves used for routine patient care are not put on in a sterile manner. Think about it – clinicians blindly reach in and grab gloves from the box and then hurry to put them on. In this process, you touch the gloves with your hands to put them on. If your hands aren’t clean, any organisms on them will be transferred to the outside of the gloves.


Once you have used your gloves to touch potentially contaminated surfaces, cleaning them for reuse comes with risks. Medical gloves are not indestructible barriers. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration noted that even wearing hand lotion under latex gloves can break down the material.

“Disposable gloves were not designed for long-term wear,” said Kelly Reynolds, director of the environment, exposure science and risk assessment center at the University of Arizona. “Reusing disposable gloves may increase the risk of exposure to viruses as microscopic tears can develop over time. Washing gloves can disrupt the integrity of the glove and is not recommended.”

Examine the quality of the materials. All of the snap caps and zipper pull tabs should be consistently branded. The tags are usually black and embroidered on an authentic garment, not white and printed, but there is some exceptions. Jackets that are supposed to be made from GORE-TEX should have an additional GORE-TEX tag and an embroidered GORE-TEX logo on the sleeve. Authentic TNF garments usually have a small reflective tag under the other tags at the collar. Look at the embroidered logos- they should be clean and clear, no threads hanging out.

If you bought it from an authorized TNF retailer you would not have to worry about authenticity.

If you are buying them on the resale market like eBay then only buy from a seller that gives a 100% money back guarantee and guarantees authenticity.

If you look to buy on websites that clear out previous years TNF jackets, only buy from ones that are known to be legit like Steep and Cheap, Campmor and a variety of other sites.

If you were the advertising manager for The North Face, you’d want consumers to know that true outdoor adventure enthusiasts wear and use North Face products doing the most strenuous sports in the most exotic places. You might ask yourself, “What online sites do users go to when they search for exotic places to go hiking or climbing?”

Anytime you buy a Moncler jacket, no matter who from, always check the authenticity number at Moncler's website. I won't dwell on the issue of Lampo zippers, Fiocchi Italy snaps, authenticity tags or other related features because most fakes have them all and a jacket containing all of the necessary features is not necessarily authentic because anything can be counterfeited. Also, as of around 2010, Moncler began using snaps that simply have the Moncler name embossed on them.

LOGO: The one feature of a Moncler that counterfeiters have not been able to accurately duplicate is the embroidered logo patch on the outside of the polo. The details of this embroidery are very consistent from one Moncler t to the next and often times a fake can be easily spotted by comparing an authentic Moncler logo patch to the one on the polo you are looking at. This is exactly what an authentic Moncler logo looks like:


Notice how the patch is smoothly cut and symmetrical, the letters are evenly spaced and neatly embroidered along a perfect arc? The lettering is not too bold and the letters never touch each other. See how the M has a slight taper to it and the ends of the C barely curl in? These are things to pay close attention to when looking at the logo on a polo you are interested in.

Because fakes are made in so many different locations/factories, there is little consistency from one fake to the next unless they were made by the same counterfeit producer. Here is an example of 8 FAKE Moncler logos.

Out of all of the varieties of fake Moncler logos, this one seems to be one of the most common:

Notice how MON and CLER appear to be separated by a gap and the letters follow the shape of a V rather than a smooth arc along the bottom? In addition, the font is not even close to an authentic one. Pay attention to this fake logo because you will see it a lot on ebay. In fact, I have recently seen a fake Moncler with this very logo sold for over $800!!!

Fake Moncler logos come in all shapes and sizes with crooked lettering, inconsistent spacing and sometimes just plain sloppy workmanship. Anytime you are looking to buy a Moncler, insist on seeing a close up photo of the logo and compare it to an authentic one as pictured in this guide.

The Moncler logo is most commonly found on the left sleeve up toward the shoulder, either on a small pocket or directly on the sleeve.


Every authentic Moncler logo patch is machine cut and exactly the same size. The width, marked in red should be 3.7 cm or 1-7/16 inches. The height, marked in blue, should be 3.4 cm or 1-5/16 inches.

UPDATE FOR 2015: It appears that Moncler's logo design has changed just a bit, perhaps due to a different supplier. I took several photos of logos at a high end department store in Chicago in 2015 and here is an example:


If you study these closely and compare some of the letters to the above logo you may notice a slight variance in the letters N, C and E and R for sure, especially the top half of the R. While such imperfections previously could have been considered an indication of a fake, the logo is not as perfectly consistent as it used to be. Such details are really only noticeable when observing the logo through strong reading glasses or an enlarged photo.


AUTHENTICITY TAGS: DO NOT fall for any stories from sellers claiming that the polo they are selling does not contain such a tag due to some kind of "reselling regulations" or other policies or regulations from Moncler. This is nothing but a lie meant to deceive buyers. If it's authentic, it WILL have an authenticity tag.

Most of Black Diamond's Climbing Skins don't come precut, so you'll need to trim them to the right length and sidecut width. You'll need your skis, a Phillips head screwdriver, something to screw into, pliers, a marker, a straight edge, and the trimming tool and hardware that come with your new skins.
Start by laying out the skin and pushing the tail clip through the fourth or fifth hole on the strap. Clip the strap to the tail on your ski, strip off the paper backing, and attach the skin. Make sure it stays centered and taut as you stretch it over the ski. Fold the extra skin back and place the tip loop over the ski. If the loop slips side to side and doesn't feel secure, you can adjust the width so it grabs more of the tail.
Now, mark the ski where the skin will meet the tip loop. Use these marks as a guide and draw a line across the skin where the tip will connect. Check your work and trim the skin along this line. Slide the tip loop onto the skin with the countersunk screw holes on the glue side and screw in the 3 break-off screws from the bottom up. Be careful not to screw into the skin or your fingers and make sure the notch on the screw is all the way out the other side. Now, you can use your pliers to break off the screw tips. Draw lines from the corners of the tip loop to the widest point of the tip of your ski and trim off these sections.
When trimming your skins, the goal is to make sure both metal edges are exposed while keeping the base fully covered. Reattach the skin to the ski starting with the tip loop. Keep the skin slightly off-center with about 2 millimeters more material on one side than the other. Use your trimming tool to cut the wider side first. Keep pressure against the side of the ski as you pull. Check your work and touch up any spots you missed. With the first side trimmed, reposition the skin so that the trim side exposes about 2 millimeters of base. You'll want to see the edge and another edge's worth of base. Now, you can trim off the excess from the other side of the skin.
When you're done and you reattach the skin centered on the ski, you should see only the metal edges exposed with little or no base material showing. The more base you have covered, the better traction you'll get, but don't worry if you have a small amount of base showing. To recap, attach the tail clip and adjust the tip loop to size. Trim the skin to the right length. Attach the tip loop to the tip of the skin. Trim the sidecut and reattach the skin and check your work.

SPICED PEAR AND PECAN OATMEAL
1 small Anjou or Bartlett pear
1/2 cup to 1 cup instant oats
2 dates or 1 tbsp date sugar
1/8 cup pecans
1/2 tsp cinnamon and cardamom
1 tbsp Laird Superfoods Unsweetened Coconut Milk Creamer

LENTIL CARROT SOUP
2 medium carrots
1/2 small yellow onion
1 inch piece of fresh ginger
1/2 cup dried red split lentils
1 1/2 to 2 cups water or stock
1/2 tsp paprika and cumin, or to taste
1 tsp tumeric
Juice from a small lime

RED CURRY WITH CASHEWS AND VEGETABLES
1 cup baby broccoli florets
1/2 cup green beans
1/2 cup baby corn
1/2 small yellow onion
1/2 tsp salt
zest from a small lime
1 1/2 tbsp red curry paste
1/2 cup to 1 cup instant white rice
2 tbsp Laird Superfoods Unsweetened Coconut Milk Creamer
1/4 cup raw cashews
