Adidas Continental 80 replica versus a genuine shoe comparison.

Adidas Originals is set to drop its archival Continental 80 silhouette as part of its “YUNG Series,” which will also see the YUNG-1 in “Chalk White/Collegiate Navy” release. The silhouette — originally released in the late 1980s — is arguably best known for its similarity to the YEEZY Powerphase sneaker.

The new release will see a one-for-one reproduction of the original sneaker, with a white upper offset by a two-tone running along the upper. The sneaker is constructed from premium leather, with a terry cloth lining and a double cupsole. The latest installment in the “YUNG Series” — including the Continental 80 reissue — is set to release worldwide on June 20.

What really makes the success of the adidas Continental 80 so impressive is the fact that it released around the same time that big, bulky dad-shoe type sneakers were all the rave. Brand’s weren’t really focused on releasing sleek, slim and smooth-looking kicks. The chunky dad shoe trend was in full effect and so was the “bigger is better” mentality. The design of the adidas Continental 80 is the epitome of minimal and versatile footwear. A soft leather upper equipped with details such as the perforated hits on the toebox and side panels. Branding simply consisted of a two-tone stripe going across the side of the shoe underneath a classic Trofoil-branded window right below the lace panels. Inside you will find terry cloth lining while the base of the shoe came equipped with a double cupsole. That’s it. The shoe was so simple and clean that not only sneakerheads were impressed by it, but so was the common man since it was so easy to add to your daily wardrobe.

Capturing the retro tennis court vibes of the 80s, the adidas Continental is now revived and available at 80s Casual Classics in all its former OG glory. The Continental is re-released with all white tumbled leather uppers alongside the iconic two tone stripes of the original late 80s design. Other features include French terry cotton to the inner collar as well as an added EVA insert to the midsole for added comfort. The trainer is offered up in a clean all white colourway and finished off with the all important trefoil branding to the tongue and sides for the ultimate retro sportswear look.
